A daring new mission for the Mavericks! For fans of Derek Robinson, James Holland, Frank Barnard and Jack Higgins.
About the Book
Summer, 1943
Flight Lieutenant Angus Mackennelly and his squadron are sent on fighter sweeps in France to try and decimate the Luftwaffe.
But with attacks on Allied planes ramping up, each sortie feels increasingly dangerous.
British Intelligence think they have the solution. New Griffon-engine Spitfires have been developed and they are considerably faster than the Mark IXs currently in use.
They need to be tested, and Angus’s Maverick Squadron are chosen as guinea pigs.
But the Griffons are expensive and the powers-that-be don’t want them sent into battle.
Angus cannot shirk from combat and so he must find a way to keep the Griffons safe without letting the enemy run riot.
But that is easier said than done…
Will the Griffons prove their worth? Can Angus keep them safe?
Or will the Luftwaffe overpower them…?
