Could a fractured England destroy Elizabeth’s cherished home?

1381, Lincolnshire, England

Grimsthorpe Manor House is in a precarious position. The Black Death decimated the local population a few decades ago, leaving those left behind overworked as they struggle to keep up with the needs of the Estate.

The Manor is currently in the hands of widow Mary Amundeville and her children, Elizabeth and Peter. While Peter is away training to become a knight, Mary makes a disastrous second marriage, shocking Elizabeth.

Mary’s new husband, Bartholomew is a cruel and unpleasant man and before long he alienates the remaining serfs with his foolish decision-making.

And soon Elizabeth finds herself forced to consider marriage to bring some much-needed wealth back to her home.

The unrest at the Manor reflects the unrest in the country, as the boy-king Richard II struggles to maintain peace in his land. Peasants are uprising, no longer happy to submit to the lords above them.

And Elizabeth soon finds herself torn between the man she has married, and the people whose cause she wishes to defend.

Will she find a way to protect her beloved manor and pacify those who live on its estate? Can she reconcile the longings of her heart with her desire for peace?

Or will this troubled period in history bring ruin to all she holds dear…?
