When she isn’t making clothes or wrangling dogs, Pippa Elliott time-travels to the nineteenth century (as a reader and author). Pippa started writing seriously after a school reunion, when classmates were surprised she had become a veterinarian, rather than an author! Apparently, her stories always held the class spellbound; something she had forgotten.

The nineteenth century is Pippa’s passion. She fell in love with the Victorians at her Granny’s house, in a Yorkshire coal-mining village. This two-up-two-down had such wonderous features as a pantry, coal bunker, cast-iron range, and gas lights. Those glimpses of Victorian life triggered an interest that has become an obsession.

Pippa has a special interest in the history of pet-keeping, has lectured on the social history of cats, and writes non-fiction articles for various publications including The Veterinary Times. As for fiction, Pippa authors cosy historical mysteries as the perfect antidote to the modern world. Calling upon her medical knowledge, Pippa approaches writing a mystery with the same logic used to make a clinical diagnosis: list the suspects, assemble the evidence, and unmask the killer.
