Laura is passionate about using fiction to restore the voices of people who have been obscured by the traditional historical narratives. She is writing a new series about forgotten medieval women, with the first novel exploring the life and legacy of Mary de Bohun, and her enduring influence over her husband Henry Bolingbroke (later Henry IV).

She studied late Medieval England and France at Oxford University, with a particular focus on the Wars of the Roses. She is an alumna of Curtis Brown Creative’s Writing Your Novel Course and was mentored by the historical novelist Suzannah Dunn.

She lives in North London with her husband, son and two cats. Writing is her happy place and has helped her cope with thyroid cancer.
