From a family of writers, Kate has always been surrounded by books. She first fell in love with the Tudors through Shakespeare, Ancient Rome through her Latin teachers, and Victorian and Anglo-Saxon England through her brother’s hand-me-down Sherlock Holmes and Tolkien books. She wrote her first book at age fourteen about a female pilot trying to join an elite flying club in Dover in the aftermath of World War II.

Kate spent over twenty years working in climate policy with the U.S. Government and non-profits. She now happily devotes her time to telling stories that have been forgotten in the dusty corners of history. She is currently working on a Tudor suspense series centred on her thirteenth great-grandmother, a lady in Queen Elizabeth I’s court.

She holds a B.A. in History from the University of Texas at Austin, an M. Phil in Comparative Politics from the University of Glasgow, and an M.A. in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University. She has lived in England, Scotland, Washington, DC, Italy, and Montana. A native Texan, she now lives in northern California with her daughter and two rescue cats.

You can get in touch with Kate on her website or follow her on Instagram.
