We are delighted to announce that we have signed two new books in Christopher Cevasco’s King Arthur Origins series: early medieval historical novels based on the Arthurian legends.
Here, Christopher tells us more about the series and what to expect from the latest instalments:
“I’m thrilled that books four and five of the King Arthur Origins series are now slated for publication at Sapere Books. The series seeks to restore the Matter of Britain to its earliest literary roots while simultaneously reconciling those myths with the established history of sixth-century Britain. I’ve drawn my primary inspiration from Geoffrey of Monmouth, the twelfth-century Welsh cleric who wrote the very first narrative version of King Arthur’s reign and of Myrlin’s life and deeds.
“The new novels allow me to explore the final years of Arthur’s reign, during which the story broadens beyond Britain’s shores to encompass continental politics and military conflicts that help shape Western Europe for centuries to come. In the final book, we’ll see Myrlin’s own tale reach a bittersweet conclusion amidst court intrigue, mystic upheaval, and civil war, marking the transition from post-Roman to Anglo-Saxon Britain. Along the way, readers will learn the ultimate fates of Queen Gwenhwyfar, of Arthur’s sister Anna, of Myrlin’s twin sister Ganieda, and of Arthur’s young nephew Mordred.
